What Are The Different Types Of Domains In cPanel?
Mainly there are three types of Domains you can add in cPanel. Following are those three types of Domains in cPanel :
- Sub-Domain
- Parked Domain
- Add-on Domain
Now let’s have a brief introduction to each domain type.
Sub Domain:
In the Domain Name System (DNS) hierarchy, a subdomain is a domain that is a part of the main domain. Sub Domain always appears on the left-hand side of Main Domain. You can add 100s of Subdomain to your main domain. Let’s have an example of my website www.alivedigital.in then following can be my subdomain:
Parked Domain:
Domain parking refers to the registration of an internet domain name without that domain being associated with any services such as e-mail or a website. This may have been done with a view to reserving the domain name for future development, and to protect against the possibility of cybersquatting. When you park your domain, visitors to your site will see a temporary Web page when they enter your domain name into their browser.Let’s have an example of my website www.alivedigital.in then following can be my parked domain:
Add-on Domain:
An addon domain is a fully functional domain that can be created from within your control panel. Think of it as having multiple hosting packages all sharing the same control panel. You can create email addresses, forwarders and more — the same way you do for your primary domain on the account.
The addon domain will appear as a totally separate domain from your primary domain. There should be no evidence that your domain is an addon domain to incoming traffic when they visit your addon domain.
